the ugly truth.
I baked a cake (from scratch.. frosting and all) last night. As I was finishing it up, I was talking about how ugly it was and that it probably didn't even taste good. Jake said "I think it's beautiful, mom." With this, what I am sure was a disgusted face said, "No way, look at it." He looked at me and said "I think I get my perfectionism from you, mom.. don't you think? yah, I think so. No offense. Are you a offended?" ........sigh. Of course, I told him I wasn't offended. And I really wasn't.. I was more embarrassed at who was playing the kid role and who was playing the parent role in this scenerio! (It really is an ugly cake, btw, but am sure the recipient will love the effort.) Reminder: Kids are watching and listening at all times, so be sure to practice what you preach. Check.
