Biz and I are allergic to cats. I think Mom had an allergy too. BUT my body adjusts to each cat over time. In my case, the doctor diagnosed me with allergic asthma and I have to use an inhaler now occasionally. You can get an allergy panel done with an allergist to know for sure. I know when Jake was here he had some symptoms after sleeping with Ella.
Tips: There are great homeopathic remedies at health food or natural pharmacies for pet allergies. I used one for awhile that you could probably find at Whole Foods. That little tablet worked like a charm.
Tons of products out there for keeping dander and cat hair cleaned up w/ little effort. Long haired cats are more challenging but anything can be done for a lovable creature.
I would recommend keeping the little guy out of your bed and bedroom. That lets your body rest fully at night.
There are forums, books, etc. for cat lovers with allergies.
At the end of the day, everybody's tolerance is different. I was told directly by my doctor that I needed to get rid of her and now we have 2! I have to deal with the issues but I love having them around. Our cats are also short haired which apparently makes a difference.
you rock, Bec. I don't have allergies.. I was horribly sick, zpack saved me. Just a coincidence. BUT! with family and friends who may be sensitive, I am all over that. THANK YOU so much for the info. Sherman is getting a bath tonight! I got earth friendly, kitty friendly stuff for him.
